Evaluation
Adult and Child ADHD Evaluation: What to Expect
1. Before your visit
You complete a short ADHD rating scale and gather anything helpful, such as old report cards, past testing or a list of current medicines.
2. Your evaluation
By video or in person, we talk through your focus, organization, impulsivity and restlessness, when they started, and how they affect home, school or work. We also screen for anxiety, depression, sleep problems and substance use.
3. Diagnosis and plan
We explain whether your symptoms fit ADHD, another condition or both, and build a plan with you. It can include medication, behavioral strategies, sleep and routine changes, and therapy referrals.
4. Follow-up care
Regular follow-ups, most of them by telehealth, check how well treatment works, side effects, sleep, appetite and blood pressure, and adjust the plan as needed.
Telehealth
ADHD Telehealth in Georgia
You can have your ADHD evaluation and most follow-up visits by secure video from anywhere in Georgia, as long as you are in Georgia during the visit. Telehealth saves the drive and makes it easier to keep appointments around work, school and family.
Some ADHD medicines are controlled substances. Federal telehealth rules for controlled medicines are in effect through December 31, 2026, but Georgia rules and the type of medicine decide what can be prescribed online and by whom. FAQ
ADHD Treatment FAQs
Straight answers to the questions patients ask us most.
Can adults be diagnosed with ADHD?
Yes. Many adults were never diagnosed as children, especially women and people who did well in school but struggled quietly. ADHD is diagnosed when symptoms started in childhood and still affect work, school, relationships or daily life today.
Can I get ADHD medication through telehealth in Georgia?
Often, yes. After your evaluation, your provider will discuss medication options, including non-stimulant medicines. Some ADHD medicines are controlled substances, and Georgia and federal rules decide how and by whom they can be prescribed, and whether an in-person visit is needed. We explain your options honestly at your first visit.
Do you treat children and teens with ADHD?
Yes. We evaluate and treat children, teens and adults. For patients under 18, a parent or guardian takes part in visits, and school reports or teacher feedback are very helpful.
What should I bring to an ADHD evaluation?
A list of current medicines, any past diagnoses or testing, and, if you have them, old report cards, school notes or comments from family members about your attention and behavior as a child. We may also ask you to complete a short rating scale before the visit.
What if my symptoms are not ADHD?
Anxiety, depression, poor sleep, trauma and some medical problems can look like ADHD. Our evaluation looks for these too, and your plan treats what is really going on, whether that is ADHD, another condition or both.
Does insurance cover ADHD treatment?
Many plans do. We accept major insurance such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Ambetter Peach State and Kaiser Permanente, plus self-pay. Our team checks your benefits before your first visit.
